Iranian wushu artist wins gold

TEHRAN, Aug. 24 (MNA)--Zahra Karimi of Iran snatched the gold medal in the Beijing 2008 Wushu Tournament on Sunday.

She defeated her Vietnamese rival in the final game and won the gold medal.

Hossein Ojaghi took silver while Farzaneh Dehghan earned bronze.

The Beijing 2008 wushu has gathered 128 athletes from 43 countries. The event kicked off at the Beijing Olympic Sports Center on Thursday where some Olympic handball matches had been held.

It was the first time that a non-Olympic tournament was launched in a city which is hosting the Olympic Games.
